This week I cover a few stories about performance in pop health, including the announcement about the NextGen ACOs not creating enough savings for CMS in 2016 and 2017. I also cover Cleveland Clinics announcement of its first Chief Research Information Officer, which I think is a pretty cool title if you are an academic physician. I end with some brief coverage about an editorial that suggests transcription is better than voice recognition; personally, I disagree but I am always open to feedback.
One of the articles I cover in this week's news is about the under-utilization of our analytic tools and that really is criminal. If you didn't catch last week's episode with John Wadsworth from Health Catalyst, it is definitely worth it and talks about how to get value out of these analytic tools. Here is a link that episode if you missed it. https://www.cmiopodcast.com/post/achieving-clinical-and-operational-excellence-through-the-use-of-data .
